31DC2013 - Day 8: Metallic Nails

I'll start by saying I don't like metallic nail polish. I own a lot of it because I love using it for stamping, but I almost never wear it on it's own. I thought I'd do a stamping manicure for today using some of my metallic nail polishes but I felt like it would be cheating, and I've already cheated enough during the first week of this challenge...

A few weeks ago my friend got back from Barcelona and got me 5 amazing nail polishes from Kiko's Mirror Metallic collection. I asked her to get them for me because I've herd they were great for stamping, but today I decided to wear them on their own. The formula was really great. Some were streakier than others, but that is to be expected in metallic polishes, and they dried very quickly.

I felt like they needed a little something extra so I stamped the zebra print fro my m57 fauxnad plate using wow #393 (black cream).

I took some pictures of the bottles and swatches of the colors. they are all opaque in 1 coat but some of them are a bit streaky so I applied 2 coats and no topcoat.

From left to right / from pinkie to thumb:
627 Lime Green
625 emerald
623 Blue
619 Red Peony
626 Lawn Green

31DC2013 - Catching Up on Days 4,5,6 (Green ,Blue ,Violet)

I've missed 3 days from the challenge during the holiday but luckily I had a day off work today so I was able to create 3 new looks. I know it's kind of like cheating but I want to keep up with the daily pace so that's the best solution I came up with.

First up is my green manicure: I used 2 coats of Essie Turquoise & Caicos and stamped an image from m64 (a fauxnad plate) over it using 3 of my new Kiko metallic nail polishes: #625 emerald, #626 Lawn Green, #627 Lime Green (I'll have swatches for these on my next post)

Next is the blue design: I used 1 coat of Essie No More Film on my index and middle finger and 2 coats of Essie Butler Please on the rest. Then I stamped an image from Bundle Monster 307 using Kiko #623 Blue.

For my purple design I went with the beautiful Zoya Aurora, 2 coats. I've had this polish for a really long time and this is the first time I've used it in a full manicure. It always seemed too holographic for me to wear on my long nails and whenever I tried putting it on I thought it looked ridicules. Now that I have shorter nails I think it looks just perfect!

31DC2013 day 7: B&W + Debuting My New Nails!

I'm fast forwarding the challenge a little bit. I've missed a few days while I was on holiday, and tomorrow is my day off so I'll catch up with all my missing manicures (green, blue and violet).

I've decided to try and cut my nails shorter because they were getting way too long and I was anxious to try something new that would save me some time in filing them on a weekly basis. Now they can grow as much as they want and they won't look too long for at least a month :)

I'm not so sure how I feel about these yet. I think I like it but I also miss my previous length... Luckily, my nails grow pretty fast so if I decide I'm not loving them it will be fairly easy to go back to the way things were.

In the meanwhile I'm going to enjoy this. I can now wear a French Manicure, dark nail polish shades or a glitter polish all over my nails without it looking too grotesque. There are certain things that simply look better on shorter nails!

For today's challenge I chose the pretty Golden Rose #110 from the Jolly Jewels collection. It's a white jelly base, packed with tons of black matte tiny glitter, and larger metallic red hexes.

I tried layering the glitter over white nail polish but as you can see, it looks much better on it's own:

It's fully opaque in 2 coats but I went with 3, just in case...

The final look really reminded me of the poppy flower so I added a stamp from Bundle Monster 314 using the decal technique I saw over at Natalie's blog.

31 Day Challenge - Day 3: Yellow

I love yellow and I also think this color looks pretty nice againt my skintone but I absolutely hate the staining that comes with it so I desided to cheat a little bit :)
I am wearing 3-4 coats of Essie Waltz and the yellow glitter is from Glitter Bunny I Got A Goodie Bag. on my ring finger and my thumv I have a reverse glittergradient with the holo glitter GK734A.

This design is going to stay on me for the holiday (jewish new year) and I won't be here for a while. I'll have to make up for missing so many days of the challenge somehow...

Glitter Bunny I Got A Goodie Bag.

31 Day Challenge - Day 2: Orange Gradient

Today's design is all about gradient:
I started it with 2 coats of Ga-de Pale Shell #800. After is has dried, I stamped this image from Bundle Monster 308 using 2 colors: e.l.f Coral Dream and Loreal 187.
Using the same 2 colors, I created the gradient on my accent nail, and then added these cute fimo fruit. I sealed the design with a thick layer of topcoat, and hopefully the oranges won't peel off until tomorrow evening.

31 Day Challenge - Day 1: Red

Yay! Day one is probably the most exciting one, there is a lot of motivation and tons of ideas running through my brain right now :)

This design sort of reminds me of a watermelon. To create it, I chose my favorite red nail polish: Essie Too Too Hot. it's not too orange, not too dark, and with the slightest hint of coral I really love how this looks on my skin tone

The formula on this one is absolutely perfect! Full coverage in one thick coat or two thin ones (which is what I did here), it dries insanely quick, with an amazing glossy finish.

I added these cute black studs that got from lightinthebox a while ago and topcoated it, and that's it.
Super easy and elegant.

Hope you liked it :)

Joining The 31 Day Nail Challenge

So I've decided to join the challenge too! So excited! I'm not going to do this 31 days in a row, I'm going to take my tyme with it and change my manicure twice or three times a week, so hopefully I'll finish in 2-3 months.

I hope I'll start today or tomorrow.
Can't wait!
